come and look at the beautiful range of Crested Geckos we currently have available
At The Gecko House UK we aim to breed ethically the most beautiful Crested Geckos. we are aiming to provide the perfect gecko for you and we are happy to answer as many questions and give as much advice as you need
If you are new to Gecko keeping there is an enormous range of information available about the variety, care and husbandry of Crested Geckos, unfortunately some of this information can be conflicting and confusing , and while there is ongoing research into the habitats and viability of some specialised morphs it will be subject to change I highly recommend watching The Gecko Pod on you tube and reading the research and explanation's of morphs created by Lil Monsters.
Providing the correct housing is essential for your Gecko's best life a glass Vivarium/terrarium is the ideal option taller rather than wider as Crested Geckos are arboreal (love to climb in trees) there are many manufacturers and some can be found second hand.
it is personal choice whether you have a Bio Active set up or you use a liner on the bottom that is changed regularly. Personally we use Bio Active and have found it to be very good for the well being of our Gecko's
there are many videos on you tube to guide you whichever you choose or speak to a breeder/ keeper
you will need a hide higher up in the vivarium for your gecko to sleep in and branches tor them to climb on , they prefer foliage to help them feel secure and hide behind. we provide all our geckos with a shallow water dish and frequently see them using this as well as spraying / misting daily or when required.
In the UK heating is essential for our Geckos for much of the year, how you do this is dependant on your setup there are several options.
ambient room heating , if you have a dedicated room or a warm house this may be your preferred option as long as the temperature does not drop too low it is very economical for larger collections.
Heat Mat with thermostat, I think this is the most common method of heating for vivarium's whether you place it underneath the vivarium or stuck to the back, it is essential it has a thermostat to avoid overheating.
Another recommended method is a deep heat projecting lamp, I have not personally used one of these so i cannot comment on its effectiveness but there are lots of good reviews online.
you should also have a way of monitoring the heat and humidity in your terrarium/vivarium so you can address any issues quickly
it is essential for your gecko to have a day/night cycle , normal daylight can achieve this but we prefer to provide additional lighting for our geckos including UVB
the subject of UVB lighting is debated we feel it is most benificial for geckos it helps them metabolise calcium and vitamins and improves their general health it can also help prevent MBD which can be crippling for lizards.
Feeding the correct diet is essential for your Geckos wellbeing, all our Geckos are fed on the top quality complete gecko diet and live bugs.
there are several different brands of Gecko diet available with the most respected being Pangea and Repashy, we also feed live crickets (at the appropriate size) dusted in calcium powder, occasionally wax worms (these can be fattening) you can also feed Dubia roaches and red runners and mealworms.
these foods are generally available in pet shops or online for delivery
we often get asked why our geckos range in price, well some colours and patterns (morphs and Traits) are harder to breed or find than others. it can also depend on the age and sex of the Gecko too, we will often sell the young geckos at a cheaper price than an adult of the same morph/colour and quality. We invest a lot of time in the care of our geckos
Shipping our geckos is provided by independent licenced reptile couriers, this can be arranged by you or us. generally the cost to ship a gecko is around 60 pounds for Mainland UK.
we welcome collection in person too
popular morphs sell out fast we do have a waiting list and are happy to add you to this, any questions about care, morphs or pricing and shipping please contact us
